Biography

Wayans started his standup-comedy career in 1982, eventually landing a role in Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and in his brother Keenen’s film, I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1984). Damon’s successful film career helped him land a role on the TV sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live in 1985. Wayans left the show after only a year in order to pursue more film projects, including Hollywood Shuffle (1987), Roxanne (1987) with Steve Martin, and Punchline (1988) with Tom Hanks.

In 1990, Wayans experienced a new level of fame as a member of his brother Keenen’s new sketch comedy show In Living Color. He stayed on the show for only two years, but during that time he popularized characters such as Blankman, who later became the inspiration for a full-length feature film in 1994, and Homey D. Clown.

In 2001, Damon starred on the TV series My Wife and Kids, which earned him critical acclaim and lasted for four years. Since then, he has been involved in a series of projects including voiceover work for Farce of the Penguins (2006) and a sketch comedy show on Showtime called The Underground (2006).
